Oathbreaker Ceremony
A Community Ritual to Name and Witness
the Bonds Broken by our National Leadership
Join us on Zoom - Sunday May 17, 2026
2 pm Pacific | 3 pm Mountain | 4 pm Central | 5 pm Eastern
FREE TO THE PUBLIC!
. The Oathbreaker Ceremony is a public invocation of accountability for Donald Trump and his enablers. It is based on a ritual found in the Mercedes Lackey novel, Tarma and Kethry: Vow and Honor.
. The ceremony could be called by many names... a protest, a community liturgy, a public reckoning, or a prayer.
. It is not aligned with any religious tradition or belief system, but rather it is a call for peace and human dignity across religious, national and cultural boundaries.
. It is a non-partisan, ritual container for community witnessing and healing
. It is not about public outrage; it is about sacred accountability and moral clarity
. The brief (five-minute) ceremony will be led by a group of spiritual leaders from United Theological Seminary in St. Paul, MN. It will be in the form of a call-and-response reading (see below), and will be followed by an open discussion to share ideas for rebuilding hope, restoring ethical leadership, and reclaiming a sense of safety.
. The ceremony allows us to witness and name broken oaths, reflect on personal and collective impact, participate in a symbolic act of acknowledgment, and close with a shared intention for change.
This ceremony is presented in "call-and-response" form. The leaders each represent a specific role in society (a cleric, a warrior, a teacher, a care provider and a common citizen). The phrases below in red are for participants to speak together out loud.

Oath Breaker is his name. All oaths to him are null. Let every person stand against him. Let the divine turn away from him. Let his sins, his crimes, his evil deeds consume him until the day he is called before his maker for a full accounting of each and every evil deed.
Let it be so.
7. CLOSING AFFIRMATIONS BY THE COMMUNITY
Attendees will then be invited to type into the chat box the closing affirmation of their choice, such as "Amen, "Blessed Be," "A-ho," "In Jesus' name," or whatever phrase is appropriate for their spiritual tradition.
8. OPEN DISCUSSION
After the closing, the leaders will remain on Zoom to discuss rebuilding hope, restoring ethical leadership, and reclaiming a sense of safety. .
